Orchestras

Beginning Orchestra: 

The Beginning Orchestra is comprised of first year students, most of which are fourth graders from Whitman, Twain & Frost.  In the first year, students learn the technique of playing a string instrument, note reading, counting and rhythm, ensemble collaboration, and personal accountability.  Beginning orchestra has Early Morning Rehearsals at 7:30 a.m. on select Fridays and lessons once a week during the school day

Chamber Orchestra: 

The Chamber Orchestra is comprised of students at an intermediate level of playing.  Students who have successfully completed at least one year of string playing are eligible to perform in Chamber Orchestra. These students generally are from Whitman, Twain, Frost & Holmes.  The students have early morning rehearsals at 7:30 a.m Tuesdays & Thursdays, Homebase Rehearsals 1st Period on A Days & C Days  and lessons once a week during the school day

Symphony Orchestra:

Symphony Orchestra is an advanced group, and is the highest level orchestra at Holmes. Comprised mostly of 7th & 8th graders, this group is by audition only.  In addition to four concerts per year, including the District 21 Orchestra Festival, Holmes Symphony represents the Orchestra Program at the competition level. This group has Early Morning Rehearsals: at 7:30 a.m. on Mondays & Wednesdays and Homebase Rehearsals: B Days & D Days  9th Period

Sectionals: Once a week during the school day
